Unfamiliar, Luminous, Remote marks Amit Berman’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, following an artist residency in Switzerland earlier this year. Bringing together a new body of paintings, the exhibition considers intimacy, memory, and vulnerability through gesture, texture, and atmosphere.

Borrowed from the novel Love, Leda, "Unfamiliar, Luminous, Remote” underlines experiences of estrangement, moments of illumination, and the emotional distances that shape human relationships. Across quiet domestic interiors, fragments of landscape, and solitary figures poised between openness and retreat, Amit’s paintings inhabit the space between familiarity, dislocation and uncertainty.

Created against a backdrop of war, displacement and emotional precarity, these works reflect an ongoing search for connection and belonging within a reality that often feels unstable.

Layers of paint remain visible, while expressive brushwork foregrounds the act of making itself. The resulting compositions are both intimate and unsettled.
