UNZEIT. constructs one architectural space through three systems of perspective.
Across its 4.3-metre width, the vanishing point shifts from one section to another. The three constructions are geometrically inconsistent, yet the space remains perceptually continuous. Because the drawing exceeds a single field of focused vision, each perspective becomes convincing within the area currently being viewed while the preceding one is already passing into memory.
This relation between constructed space and the observer recurs throughout Nussbaumer’s practice. Here, the continuity of the image depends on a viewer who moves, retains and adjusts.
The drawing does not conceal its contradictions. It relies on perception to hold them together.
