Tobias Nussbaumer (b. 1987, Basel, Switzerland) is an artist whose practice combines drawing and site-specific installation. He holds a BA in Illustration-Fiction from the Lucerne School of Art and Design and an MA from the Basel School of Design.
 
His work explores the relationships between memory, technology, architecture and perception. Using algorithms and artificial intelligence to generate virtual architectural structures inspired by fragmented recollections, Nussbaumer transforms digital images into hand-drawn compositions using black coloured pencil and ink on paper. Through immersive installations that extend his drawings into exhibition spaces, he examines how memories overlap, fragment and dissolve, questioning the ways digital systems and human consciousness shape our understanding of space and time.
 
His work has been exhibited in Switzerland and internationally for over a decade. He has received several awards and grants, including the Kiefer Hablitzel Award and support from Atelier Mondial for a residency at Residency Unlimited in New York in 2022. His work is part of The Post Collection in Switzerland.
