Carlo D'Anselmi USA, b. 1991
Carlo D’Anselmi (b. 1991, New York, NY) lives and works in Ridgewood, Queens. His paintings are invented from his imagination, and often depict figures and animals in dreamlike settings, formed with vibrant colors, textured surfaces, and a pensive and emotive quality. His work also explores dreams, light, memories, nature, and the capacity for painting to create a dialogue between reality and imagination.
The child of two painters, D’Anselmi began accessing and making art at a very early age, seeking out various creative pursuits such as drawing, painting, wood carving, and printmaking. He began to study painting seriously at Saint Anselm College, from which he graduated in 2013 with a double major in Fine Arts and Classics. Shortly thereafter, he attended the New York Studio School of Drawing Painting and Sculpture, receiving his MFA in Painting in 2015. He has since been living and working in New York City, and has shown his work nationally and internationally.
D’Anselmi has exhibited at Asia Art Center, Taipei, Taiwan; ThisWeekendRoom, Seoul, South Korea; Ceysson & Bénétière, New York, NY; Thierry Goldberg Gallery, New York, NY; Monya Rowe Gallery, New York, NY; Kravets Wehby Gallery, New York, NY; The Cabin, Los Angeles, CA; Pamela Salisbury Gallery, Hudson, NY; Galerie Kornfeld, Berlin, Germany; Danese/Corey, New York, NY, and The Painting Center, New York, NY, among many others.
