Daniela’s work analyzes certain aspects that define our human nature, particularly the artificial world we inhabit and the nonsense that it generates. The artist creates fictional scenarios that are extreme to the point where they become contradictory.
Her process is neurotic, obsessive, full of uncertainties. She needs to be involved in all stages of production.
In recent years Daniela has integrated knitted and crocheted objects into her work. Originally she used them to represent a variety of subjects: the creation of a safe place, an obsession channeled in an attempt to preserve mental health. These objects are clearly artificial, as a simple form of hand-made fiction.
The artist like to work in the grey areas : in between certainty and uncertainty, between what is real and what is imagined, the place where concepts swivel and contradict themselves, where opposites meet to complete their cycle.
“I am always looking for connections, what connects real and imagined, creativity and destruction, the other and myself. I like to think about the place where extremes find a way to come together.”
